Darwin’s friends

Just finished reading ‘Darwin’s Armada’ by Ian McCalman. A finely constructed telling of the interwoven lives and journeys of Darwin, Hooker, Huxley and Wallace.
The last three might be considered to have been overshadowed historically , but the closeness of the relationships each had with him are shown to be of great significance to his thinking and career and have poignant parallels in losses suffered. Very good as a detailed account of the creative thinking, and social, processes of real scientific progress. Five stars.
